Boise is a large city located in southwestern Idaho. It is positioned in Ada County and along the Boise River. Boise is the capital of the State of Idaho and serves as the county seat for Ada County. The city had a population of approximately 223,154 at the time of the 2016 census according to the United States Census Bureau.

In the early 1800s, a trading post was constructed on the present-day site of Boise. The trading post was constructed by the Hudson’s Bay Company. In the 1860s, gold was discovered in the area. The discovery brought a large number of prospectors and hopeful settlers. One year later the United States Army constructed Fort Boise. That year Boise became the territorial capital and was incorporated as a city.

Although Boise was once isolated from the rest of the United States, it is easily accessed and is home to wonderful amenities. Individuals visiting Boise are now able to arrive via the Boise Airport. After arriving, individuals are encouraged to explore the many art museums, parks, and restaurants and shops scattered throughout the city. Boise is also home to Boise State University. The university has a history of providing excellent educations to its students and is a major part of the city.

Boise, Idaho is positioned in a climate that experiences warm summers and very cool winters. The warmest months of the year tend to be June, July, and August. During these months, daytime temperatures average in the upper-80s but can climb well into the 90s. During the winter months, temperatures vary from the upper-30s to the low-40s during the daytime. At night, temperatures will dip well below freezing. Also, snowfall is common during the winter months. Individuals living in the city usually have both heating and cooling systems installed in their homes. These systems keep the residents comfortable inside their homes throughout the changing seasons.
