Nampa is a southwestern Idaho city located in the Boise-Nampa Metropolitan Area. It is positioned in Canyon County and is the largest city therein. According to the United States Census Bureau, Nampa was home to about 91,300 people in 2016.

Similar to its neighboring cities, Nampa was established after Oregon Short Line Railroad built a depot in the area. The city was originally known as New Jerusalem. According to local lore, the city was renamed in honor of a Shoshone Indiana Chief known as Nampuh. The name Nampuh means “big foot.”

Today, there are many things to see and do around the City of Nampa. Downtown Nampa is a beautiful part of the city that is home to many local businesses. Also, many community events are held in Downtown Nampa. Individuals and families are encouraged to participate in the community events. There are also several attractions in Nampa outside of community events. The Warhawk Air Museum, Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, Lake Lowell, antique shops, and the historic Nampa Train Depot are all located within or a short distance from Nampa.
